Larry Gray
Larry Gray was a great friend of Bruce Garraway’s. They met in the service where both were involved in a low powered radio station aboard the ship they served on. Nicknamed Panda Bear by his friends and colleagues, Larry, under the guise Panda Productions, organized a series of concerts in the Tidewater area, including Quicksilver Messenger Service (and others). After his time at WOWI, he met and married Diana Withrop and together they created a news bureau for mid-West farm stations.
Always politically active, Larry ended up in DC, where he was an elected representative to the DC Democratic Committee, ran for DC School Board and City Council, and was the legislative chair for the DC Congress of the Parent Teachers Association. He was a tireless advocate for the District's children and spent almost 20 years on Capitol Hill as a Press Secretary and Legislative Staff as an advocate for Family Farmers. (Larry died on July 28, 2003)
